DARKTHRONE Shadows Of Iconoclasm (2021 UK/EU limited edition deluxe box set celebrating the formative years of Darkthrone, presented in a high-quality matte-finish rigid box and packed with archival material spanning the band’s earliest era. This lavish collection is widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive retrospectives of Darkthrone’s origins, documenting their transition from death metal roots to the foundations of Norwegian black metal. The set includes six vinyl LPsand an additional 7" single, headlined by a newly remastered 30th Anniversary edition of the 1991 debut album Soulside Journey. Also featured is the long-mythologised Goatlord instrumental rehearsal/album, carefully transferred and restored from Fenriz’s original tape, alongside a wealth of historic live recordings. These include Live in Esbjerg, Denmark 1990 (appearing on vinyl for the first time), Live in Oslo, November 1990 sourced from a new digital transfer of the original Bootleg TV master tapes and previously unreleased, and Live in Riihimäki & Lahti, Finland 1991, also making its vinyl debut. Completing the vinyl content is a 7" single featuring tracks from Darkthrone’s Oslo 1989 Bootleg TV appearance, including their cover of Celtic Frost’s Visual Aggression. In addition, the box houses the four cult Darkthrone demo recordings on cassette, faithfully reproduced with their original artwork and layouts, offering an authentic snapshot of the band’s earliest underground releases. A DVD is also included, featuring a new digital transfer of Darkthrone’s November 1990 Oslo performance from the original master tapes, footage from their Finnish tour appearances, bonus material from Oslo 1989, and a previously unseen track from their September 1990 Oslo show. Rounding out the package is a substantial 60-page hardbound book, packed with rare and classic band photographs and detailed text exploring Darkthrone’s early history, drawing from Black Death & Beyond with additional exclusive chapters compiled from rare and obscure Darkthrone sources. Collectors are further treated to a band promotional photo print replica, a Soulside Journey art print, and posters reproducing the original Darkthrone logo artwork and a gig poster advertising their September 1990 Oslo performance. This copy remains in Near Mint condition
